More construction workers are needed |
Teachers will be given lessons in construction during a day which aims to help them understand the jobs available in the industry for pupils. Monday's event at Finchley Catholic High School, in north London, has been organised by ConstructionSkills - the sector's skills council.
Bromley, Greenwich and Barking and Dagenham teachers are due to attend.
More tradesman are needed to complete the thousands of new homes planned for the South East.
The day coincides with construction week and staff will also learn about the new construction GCSE.
Rachel Hann, of ConstructionSkills, said: "National Construction Week is all about raising awareness of the modern construction industry to young people.
"Construction is a huge and prospering industry which offers a diverse range of exciting and rewarding career opportunities for young people - especially girls.
"It is up to the experienced construction professionals and trades people to communicate that message".
