Rare Chinese animal potions find
London's Chinatown
A shop in Chinatown was raided
Hundreds of bottles of Chinese medicine made from endangered species have been found at a shop in London's Chinatown.

Extracts from tigers, bears, rhinos and musk deer as well as rare plants were found among the products, mainly pills, uncovered during a raid.

The operation by the Met's Wildlife Crime unit was part of an ongoing campaign against the illegal trade in endangered species in London.

A woman arrested in connection with the raid is being questioned by police.

Although most of the trade in traditional Chinese medicines is legal, some products are still made from endangered species.

Since the Met's Operation Charm was launched 10 years ago it has seized more than 30,000 items made from endangered species being sold illegally in London.

These have included traditional Chinese medicines, shahtoosh shawls, elephant ivory and animal skins and taxidermy.
