How to prevent an HIV epidemic in London is on the agenda
Hundreds of medical professionals have been discussing how best to improve healthcare in London.

Doctors, nurses and physiotherapists from across the capital met at the Capital Doctor conference in Regent's Park on Saturday.

They were to talk about how to prevent an HIV epidemic in London and access to healthcare, amongst other issues.

Daryll Baker, who was chairing the event, said it was important to discuss issues important just to London.

Mr Baker, a consultant at The Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, north London, said: "London's a special area in that it has a large number of heterogeneous people with very different medical problems and there are very high powered specialists.

"Across London you have the whole range, from people who are very well off to people who are poor and also people who are from different ethnic groups, and that means you have to provide care across the board."
