The Royal Opera House is offering a number of cut-price performances |
People who would not normally go to the opera or ballet are being given the chance to do so this weekend as part of a cut price ticket scheme. The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden has given a discount of up to 90% for Saturday's matinee performance of Cinderella starring Darcey Bussell.
It is the first of several shows with cheap seats in January and February.
The scheme has been made possible thanks to a 1.3m donation from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
The foundation was set up by entrepreneur and publisher Paul Hamlyn and aims to help disadvantaged people through the arts.
Among those who will benefit from the scheme is the Southwark Asian Women's Association, a drop-in centre in south London.
