Jean Charles de Menezes was shot dead by police |
A Brazilian man mistakenly killed by police hunting suicide bombers has been remembered at a Latin American event. Thousands of people at Carnaval del Pueblo helped mark the death of Jean Charles de Menezes.
He was shot dead at Stockwell Tube station by armed officers the day after the failed bombings of 21 July.
People attending the event in Burgess Park, south London on Sunday, were asked to hold up a white piece of paper during the minute's silence.

At the same time dozens of white balloons, each carrying a white rose, were released in memory of the 52 people who died during London's terrorist attacks on 7 July.
Carnival organiser Nuala Riddell Morales said: "By doing this we are telling the terrorists, 'you will not defeat us, you will not divide us, you will not destroy our spirit'."
The free carnival began at noon with a procession starting at City Hall. The parade reached Burgess Park at about 1500 BST.
The carnival is due to finish at about 2200 BST.
