Watchpoint for London's falcons
Peregrine Falcons and babies

A family of peregrine falcons nesting on a central London tower block can now be seen from a free viewpoint.

The birds of prey can be seen from a special birdwatching area in Regent's Park from Saturday.

Three chicks have hatched and people can now see them with through telescopes and binoculars close to the park's York Gate entrance.

The falcons are the first to have nested in central London and reared two young last year.

This year's three young are doing well so far.

Andrew South of the RSPB's London team said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for Londoners to enjoy a close encounter of the bird kind with one of the most exciting creatures on the planet.

"They are officially the fastest flying birds reaching a speed of up to 200mph, but you won't have to reach that speed to see them in all their glory."
