Damilola killers 'will be caught'
Damilola Taylor
Police say they are confident they will catch Damilola's killers
Police investigating the murder of Damilola Taylor say they are "very confident" they will catch his killers after searching a number of homes.

The inquiry has been "taken forward" by the detailed searches of the properties in Peckham, south-east London, in September, Scotland Yard said.

Damilola, 10, bled to death after being stabbed on his way home from school in Peckham, in November 2000.

Four youths were cleared of his murder at the Old Bailey in April 2002.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "On the 15th of September we went to several address and carried out detailed searches.

"The searches did take the investigation forward and we are very confident this is a case that will be solved."

At the 2002 trial evidence from the prosecution's key witness, a 12-year-old girl, was thrown out by the judge who ruled it was unreliable.

Det Chf Insp Nick Ephgrave said: "We are doing everything possible to ensure that the people responsible for the death of Damilola Taylor are brought to justice."
