Surgery's MMR ultimatum to family

Health centre refused to comment over the MMR ultimatum it gave
A health trust has stepped in after a GP surgery threatened to have a whole family de-registered for not giving their daughter the MMR jab.

Jamie and Karen Kellock were sent a letter containing the ultimatum from the World's End Health Centre in King's Road, in Chelsea, south-west London.

The letter said the Kellocks needed to send written evidence that Georgina had been given the injection.

Kensington and Chelsea Primary Care Trust helped to change the decision.

It instead referred all enquiries to Kensington and Chelsea Primary Care Trust.

A spokesman for the trust confirmed that the surgery had now backed down from its stance.

He said: "Kensington and Chelsea Primary Care Trust were not aware that the practice were doing this and having now spoken to the practice this family will not be taken off the practice list.

"It is important that populations are protected against measles, mumps and rubella.

"However it is essential that informed patient choice is respected and does not affect access to general practitioner services."
