Kew Gardens is to brew and sell its own beer, using hops grown on the site in south-west London. Appointed a World Heritage site last summer, the Royal Botanic Gardens has started producing jam and other goods.
Now "Kew Brew" will be sold in a local pub and restaurants in Kew Gardens and will help fund the site's world-renowned science and conservation work.
It follows a brewing exhibition at Kew last year which included a field of barley and one of hops.
The harvested hops were then used to produce 15,000 bottles of beer, which will go on sale from 2 May.
Kew spokeswoman Jill Preston said the beer was the latest in a line of Kew products including jam and chutney.
She added: "However, this has the magic touch of ingredients actually grown here."
