Traffic wardens in Bromley, south London, have voted to strike after being told not to return to their council base for breaks. Workers have been offered 70p a day to use local cafes but many fear they will be forced to take their breaks next to drivers they have issued tickets to.
The Rail Maritime and Transport Union members say they want to take their meal breaks in a place of safety.
The RMT said their members endure threats and abuse on a daily basis.
Bob Crow of the RMT said: "Our members are threatened and abused daily in their course of work and serious assaults on parking attendants are a regular occurrence."
