Tube company Metronet has been fined more than �11m for poor performance in its first year of maintaining tracks The consortium has accepted a penalty of �4.9m for its maintenance on the Bakerloo, Central, Victoria, and Waterloo & City lines.
But Metronet is disputing a further �6.7m fine imposed by Transport for London.
This includes �3.3m for lost hours due to the Chancery Lane derailment when more than 30 passengers were hurt.
Metronet also revealed it had achieved a �4m bonus for its performance on the Metropolitan, District, Circle, Hammersmith & City and East London lines.
The firm also pointed to successes in achieving more capacity on the Central line, laying new track, and reducing graffiti.
However, a company report on its performance also included the October 2003 Hammersmith derailment from which "valuable lessons" had been learned, poor performance in coping with cold weather in January of this year, and too little overnight engineering works finished on time.
Metronet Rail executive chairman John Weight: "The review of our operations in year one is transparent and whilst there has been a number of low-points, we have undoubtedly realised significant achievements too."
