The evacuation caused chaos in the rush hour |
Police have carried out a controlled explosion of a briefcase left at Paddington railway station. The west London station was evacuated and all services running through it were cancelled after staff raised the alarm during the rush hour at 0800 GMT.
British Transport Police said a briefcase was left on platform 12 and checks found a mobile phone was inside.
The recent train bombings in Madrid were detonated using cell phones. The station reopened at 0935 GMT.
But Network Rail said services will not return to normal for several hours.
