Pc Adams's family say she was committed to the police service |
Police have launched an investigation after the body of a female constable was found at work. Officers say they are treating the death of Amoreena Adams, 32, who was shot, as a suspected suicide.
A police Glock pistol was found by her body in a basement room at Territorial Policing HQ building at Victoria Embankment in central London on Sunday.
Pc Adams worked with the Diplomatic Protection Group and was based at Canon Row Police Station as an armourer.
'Committed to service'
Two notes from the deceased have been found in her belongings, police said.
Pc Adams's mother, Jacqueline, said: "Amy was a loving daughter who was dear to us and was incredibly committed to the police service.
"She will be sadly missed. We are struggling to come to terms with this tragedy."
Commander Peter Loughborough, head of the Royalty and Diplomatic Protection Group, said: "We are all deeply distressed by yesterday's events.
"The death of a colleague in such circumstances affects us all, but our thoughts must go particularly to Amy's family, to those who knew her best, and to those for whom the bonds of affection were most strong."
Counselling for officers involved in the incident and for Pc Adams's colleagues is being made available by the Metropolitan Police's Occupational Health Department.
A post-mortem examination has been scheduled for Tuesday.
