Police raids clampdown on crime
Drug dealers, troublesome tenants, illegal workers and fare evaders are the focus of a three-day clampdown by police in west London.

Police, Kensington and Chelsea council and agencies, including the DVLA and Customs and Excise, will carry out a series of raids in Notting Hill.

The Safer Surer operation is part of the Metropolitan Police's on-going Safer Streets campaign.

It aims to reassure residents and reduce crime.

The initiative follows a similar operation in Earls Court last year which resulted in more than 40 arrests.

Police also carried out 140 stop and searches in two days.

Counterfeit and non-VAT paid alcohol and tobacco was seized and fines were issued for parking and fare evasion.

London Fire Brigade will also be targeting unsafe buildings and giving out fire safety advice and free smoke alarms.
