Thousands without water
Flooded road on Monday night
Water flooded the North Circular on Monday night
Thousands of homes in north London are without water after a water main burst on a key road junction.

The westbound section of the North Circular at Brent Cross by the junction with the A41 was reduced to one lane on Tuesday because of the flooding.

Thames Water engineers are again working through the night to try to repair the pipe but the company said it does not expect everyone to have full services back to normal until Wednesday morning.

Traffic problems in the area have been compounded by another burst water main on Edgware Road.

Pat Cassidy, who lives in nearby Dollis Hill, has been without water since Monday night.

The local shops have run out of bottled water and she missed a delivery by Thames Water on Tuesday morning.

Water delivery
Thames Water has made deliveries to affected residents
As a foster carer she has to look after two children, and she said: "I need the water for the babies' milk.

"I've got a bottle of juice left for one of the baby's and my daughter needs water for my grand-daughter."

Other residents have helped deliver water to elderly neighbours who suffer from diabetes.

Thames Water has apologised to customers and has said some parts of the affected areas have now got supplies back.

The company said the problem was caused by a drop in temperatures after the recent heatwave.
