The Metropolitan Police and Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) are joining forces to tackle domestic violence. They have produced a draft, which is being revealed at a seminar in east London on Friday, of how to handle cases and deal with perpetrators.
It sets out the standards for dealing with domestic violence cases from identifying them to victim care and what to do if an allegation is withdrawn.
Detective Chief Inspector Sue Williams, who developed the agreement for the Met, said: "Domestic violence has a devastating impact on the lives of far too many people.
"We will continue to work against those who commit these crimes and want to ensure that the message is clear that we treat these offences incredibly seriously."
At the seminar the groups will look at the responsibilities of the Metropolitan Police and CPS and how these can be delivered.
The agreement was signed by Sir Ian Blair, Deputy Commissioner of the Met, and Howard L Cohen, director of CPS North and East London.
