Last month, the Strategic Rail Authority announced it was terminating Connex's South Eastern franchise which had been due to run until 2006. The punctuality figures released on Thursday by the Rail Passengers Council (RPC) in its annual report which showed that, nationally, the number of complaints it received from April 2002 to March 2003 totalled 11,192.
This was a 23% fall on the 2001-02 total and was in contrast to the rise in overall complaints received by the rail industry.
