 Commuters are facing delays |
Rail commuters are complaining about a lack of proper information as Paddington station remains closed due to delays in engineering work.
Passengers travelling to the mainline station from South Wales and the west have to change at Ealing Broadway or Reading, for connections into London.
Caroline Mann said she was told at Victoria to catch the Heathrow Express, which normally runs from Paddington, from Ealing Broadway.
"But when I got here there was no Heathrow Express and I was told to get the tube back the way I had come to get the Heathrow Express from a different station.
"I do not have time for that so I am trying to get a taxi."
It has been a nightmare |
Ms Mann said she was due to fly to Germany on business - in an hour.
"I wish somebody at Victoria had given me the right information.
"What I was told was all wrong."
Catering worker Liz Ehlers said she was also trying to take a taxi - to avoid the queues at Ealing Broadway
"It is manic down there.
The closure has caused disruption |
"There are so many people."
Accountant Paul Mansbridge said when he telephoned national rail inquiries to ask if Paddington was closed, he was told: "No, it is fine."
But when he arrived he found all services had been cancelled.
And he had arranged to meet three colleagues there before travelling to Swindon, he added.
"We have to go to see a client and at the moment we have lost our fourth person and we are late.
"It has been a nightmare.
"They are directing people straight to the platform without telling you the ticket office is in the opposite direction.
"It was so overcrowded they were herding us.
"There should have been warnings so we did not arrange to meet at Paddington.
"This has made our life very difficult."
