Football fan jailed for violence

A Lincoln City fan has been jailed for a year for his part in an attack on two police officers at a pre-season match.

Philip Adams, 32, of Sincil Bank, Lincoln, admitted affray following the home game in July 2008.

Trouble broke out after the officers asked a group of fans to move on from outside the League Two club's Sincil Bank stadium.

Lincoln Crown Court heard Adams was among two groups who trapped the officers and threw missiles at them.

A moped, wheelie bin and other objects were thrown at the South Yorkshire officers as they were trapped on a bridge.

The court heard the officers were forced to use their batons and CS spray.

Adams was also banned from attending football matches for six years.
