Gainsborough Old Hall may close earlier as part of the plan |
Some Lincolnshire tourist attractions may have their opening hours cut as part of a county council savings drive. The authority is planning to save 100,000 by closing some attractions one hour earlier at 4pm instead of 5pm.
Sites which could be effected include the Collection in Lincoln, Gainsborough Old Hall and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitors Centre.
The county council said changing the times would give taxpayers better value for money.
'Responding to public'
Jonathan Platt, the council's head of heritage, regeneration and improvement, said some attractions including Lincoln Castle could have their opening hours extended during the summer as part of the plans.
"Currently we're in the middle of a consultation process with our staff which is looking at if we could change our opening hours to generate that level of saving [100,000].
"In some instances we're responding to the public who've requested changes to the opening hours," he said.
The authority aims to introduce the changes from 1 April.
