A new environmentally-friendly primary school has been officially opened in a Lincolnshire village. It is the first new facility for the village of Witham St Hughs, which is situated on the former RAF Swinderby site near Lincoln.
It has prefabricated timber frames and solar panels to heat water. Rain water is collected and re-circulated through the lavatory system.
BBC Look North presenter Peter Levy performed the opening ceremony.
Head teacher Neil Spencelayh said: "We try to incorporate the teaching of these elements into our curriculum, so the children benefit and increase their understanding of environmental issues."
