Rise in domestic violence calls
Lincolnshire Police have reported a high number of overnight calls about domestic violence.

Officers believe tensions created by some families coming together for the festive season could be a reason for the increase.

The force will publish a poster in the New Year highlighting the issue and urging victims to come forward.

Insp Phil Parkinson said it was not unusual to receive more domestic violence reports at Christmas time.

"I think it is perhaps a lot to do with families being together at holiday time," said Insp Parkinson.

"You've got kids home from school, perhaps there are lots of stresses and strains, especially on Christmas Day itself.

"People are tired and worn out by the end of it and I'm sure that has a bearing on it."
