Infection closes hospital wards
Two wards at a Lincolnshire hospital have had to close to emergency admissions because of an infection.

Five wards at Lincoln Hospital were affected by the sickness bug and some routine operations have been cancelled.

United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has refused to name the wards which have been affected since Wednesday.

Managers insisted no-one was at serious risk. The bug is affecting patients with serious illnesses who had recently taken a course of antibiotics.

Director of nursing Sue Glaister said: "The situation at the hospital this morning is well-contained... we do have four wards affected by two different types of infection and we've got two wards closed to admissions.

"The good news is that we've got no patients with new symptoms and everything seems to be settling."
