Crackdown on illegal booze sales
A police crackdown on the sale of alcohol to underage youngsters in Lincolnshire has found almost 70% of premises selling drinks illegally.

Police issued a total of 11 fixed penalty notices in the Boston and Kirton areas in two days.

A total of 17 off-licences and pubs were approached by police cadets during the test purchase operation.

In a similar operation at Christmas last year, none of eight premises in Boston sold alcohol illegally.

The operation followed complaints about youngsters drinking alcohol in public areas.

Pc Kul Bains of Boston's neighbourhood policing team, said: "We are obviously very disappointed with these results, although feedback from staff over the two nights was positive, so we are encouraged that lessons have been learnt."

Purchases included cans of lager and cans of cider, a bottle of Vodka, a Vodka-based drink and a bottle of wine.
