Mini tornado damages church glass
Residents of a Lincolnshire village say a mini tornado has snapped branches off trees and damaged church windows.

The tornado appears to have struck during a thunderstorm on Friday afternoon.

It was spotted by a couple in Bardney along Branston causeway, according to callers to BBC Radio Lincolnshire.

One Belchford resident told the station: "They say it was a tornado. It is terrible mess with glass all over the church carpet. It's awful."

She said the tornado hit the church on Friday afternoon and broke at least two windows.

Five students were injured during a tornado in August when it lifted a portable building into the air in south Lincolnshire.

In the summer of 2005, the roof of a church in Moulton, near Spalding, was damaged in a freak storm resulting in a 500,000 repair bill.
