Home births in part of Lincolnshire have been suspended due to a shortage of midwives. The United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust said the decision is only temporary and is not related to the current financial crisis.
Mothers-to-be in the Lincoln and Louth areas are affected.
Health officials added that any women who have already booked a home birth will, where possible, have that arrangement honoured.
More midwives are being recruited to address the problem.
The United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has a funding deficit of 17.5m.
