Birdwatchers rush to see visitor
A sora
Soras are known for walking as much as flying
The appearance of a rare bird has brought a stream of twitchers to the Lincolnshire coast.

The Sora - native to the United States - has found its way to the Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve near Skegness.

It is the first time the bird has been recorded in the county and it is thought it may have been blown off course by westerly winds.

The chocolate-coloured bird prefers marshy areas and is known for its ground-dwelling habits.

BBC Radio Lincolnshire's wildlife expert, Roger Goy, said: "It's a first for the county, there was one in Nottinghamshire and the only other one I have heard of recently was on the Scilly Isles.

"It is brown on top with black specks on the wings, about 20-25 cms long and white underneath the tail."
