Thieves break open charity boxes
A series of thefts from charity collection boxes in Lincoln have been condemned by its workers.

Thieves have been taking items from the Oxfam book banks at supermarkets in the city, after forcing them open.

Managers at the charity's shop on Sincil Street said they were appalled that people would steal donated items.

Erika Aston, who runs the Oxfam bookshop, said: "It is taking away from our ability to help people who literally have nothing."

She added: "The money we raise goes into a pot that helps the poor, the homeless and the persecuted.

"I can't imagine how someone who took from that could justify their actions."
