Parents are being warned they are putting their children's lives at risk by failing to fasten their seatbelts. The Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership says its research shows 65% of children in the county are unrestrained when they travel in cars.
Steve Batchelor, from the group, said: "I can't imagine there's any parent who would want to risk their child's life.
"But by taking them to and from school and around without putting seat belts on that's exactly what you're doing."
He added: "Seat belts to me has always been one of the easier issues to understand.
"Certainly when you're talking about restraining your children in the car, it just seems like there would be no debate there."
