Officials hope the filming will raise Lincoln's profile |
A multi-million-pound Hollywood film starring Tom Hanks is to be partly filmed in Lincoln. The cathedral is one of the main locations for this summer's filming of the controversial international bestselling book The Da Vinci Code.
Dan Brown's story caused a storm of controversy over its questioning of many of the key parts of Christianity.
A cathedral spokesman said the filming would raise the landmark's profile but stressed Brown's work was pure fiction.
Such was the impact of the book, with sales of 20 million, the Vatican even appointed an archbishop to debunk Brown's claims.
The film is due to be released next year.
