There has been a dramatic fall in the teenage pregnancy rate in Lincolnshire, according to new figures. The county's youth pregnancy co-ordinator, Alison Poxon, said the recorded rate has dropped by 18.5% - twice the national average
Over 42,000 under-18s became pregnant in 2003, despite government promises to halve the numbers.
It comes after new research found some doctors are prescribing the pill to girls as young as 10 years old.
Ms Poxon felt it was important to put the statistics into perspective.
She said: "In this county we do not have any young parents aged 10, 11, 12, 13 or 14.
"There are seven aged 15, and 31 are 16. It is very much the exception that 10-year-olds are sexually active."
