Police hail hare-coursing blitz
The number of people illegally hare-coursing in Lincolnshire has fallen significantly since last year, police have said.

The practice of chasing hares with dogs was banned by the Hunting Act 2004.

Lincolnshire Police said a range of initiatives had helped to crack down on the problem.

Sgt Jim Tyner, of the force's rural policing team, said heavy court fines had proved a deterrent and that farmers were being urged to report incidents.

'Very robustly'

He said: "Last year we policed this very robustly. We collaborated with the Crown Prosecution Service, so we got very heavy fines in courts against offenders."
