Ambulance crews in Lincolnshire are forming a partnership with firefighters to reduce the number of house fires. It is the first time that the two county services have teamed up for to promote fire safety.
Members of Lincolnshire's non-emergency ambulance service will be trained on how to spot fire hazards when they go into people's homes.
They will look out for a number of potential problems, such as worn or overloaded electrical cables.
If the patient agrees, crews will then pass on their details to the fire service for a home visit.
The ambulance service says the new partnership will particularly help vulnerable and older people.
The first training session is being run by the fire service on Friday.
