Club's ground move plan submitted
Plans to move Boston United to a new 10m stadium have been described as "a lifeline" by the chairman.

The Pilgrims are lodging four separate planning applications with Boston Borough Council on Thursday.

If approved they will see Boston United move from York Street to the Boardsides and Boston Town relocate from Tattershall Road to Wyberton.

The club's chairman Jon Sotnick said it would face serious financial challenges if the plans were not approved.

Some people are opposed to the plans, but the Pilgrims chairman Jon Sotnick insists the club has considered all the issues.

"These plans constitute a lifeline for Boston United. If they are not accepted, it is possible there would not be a club," he said.

"A phoenix might rise from the ashes but it would not be a football league club."

He said expensive reports have been compiled by experts who have studied traffic and environmental issues.

"If they said it wasn't feasible then we would not being doing it - it is feasible and it will be a massive, massive benefit to not just the club but the community as a whole," he said.

The old grounds will be demolished and replaced with housing to help cover costs of the move.
