Fundraisers trying to buy a scanner for a hospital in Lincolnshire say they have been overwhelmed by the response. About 500,000 is needed to buy the computerised tomography (CT) scanner for Louth County Hospital.
Supporters thought it would take two years to raise the money, but in the seven months since the appeal was launched, 40,000 has been raised.
The appeal chairman, Trevor Marris, said residents in the town had taken the campaign to heart.
