Visitor numbers rise celebrated
Lincoln Cathedral
Lincoln Cathedral's success is highlighted in the new report
Heritage organisations are meeting in Lincoln on Wednesday to celebrate an increase in visitor numbers at historic sites across the country.

A report called Heritage Counts 2004 highlights a number of success stories, including Lincoln Cathedral which now attracts around 2,000 visitors a year.

The event will mark the Heritage Lottery Fund's 10th anniversary.

Organisers say Lincoln was chosen as the venue because of a rise in visitor numbers due to improved promotion.

The restoration of the city's drill hall will also feature among the success stories highlighted.

The report's publisher, English Heritage, said Lincolnshire's historic were enjoying a renaissance.
