Jayne Walmsley: "It could happen anywhere"

Luke, who was 14, was fatally stabbed at the Birkbeck School, North Somercotes, a year ago on Wednesday.

His parents Paul and Jayne have been overwhelmed by people's support, but said it does not get any easier.

Alan Pennell, 16, was detained for life, with a recommendation he serves at least 12 years, for murdering Luke at the school near Louth.

Paul Walmsley said: "After the trial, people think it is over, but of course it certainly isn't for us."

"The last few weeks have been very hard (because of the anniversary of his death)."

"Every day is still difficult - the days just seem never ending," his mother Jayne said.

"Everyone now seems to be aware of the use of knives ... but we need to carry on with the campaign and make people realise it could be anyone's child.

"If it can happen in Birkbeck it can happen anywhere."

She said her son was "absolutely full of life" and "a son that everyone would have wanted".
