Christmas event appeals for bands
The organisers of this year's Lincoln Christmas Market are appealing for groups to entertain shoppers.

The organisers of the market say they are after local bands, choirs and drama groups to donate some of their time to perform in front of a large audience.

About 170,000 visitors are expected over the four days, starting in just five weeks time on 2 December.

Organisers say this year more than a third of the stalls will be city or county based.

This means more profits will be kept within the local economy.

In recent years the fair had been criticised for having too many rides and funfair stalls, so now more traditional entertainments are being promoted.
