Lincolnshire Ambulance Service has been rewarded for its fast response times, less than a week after it was given a zero rating in performance tables. The Health Minister, Rosie Winterton, says crews are reaching 75% of patients with serious or life-threatening conditions within eight minutes.
Her department has rewarded the service with a 40,000 cash grant.
Ambulance spokesman Noel Wade says it is good news for the service - and they already have plans for the money.
"The 40,000 will be invested in our Bracebridge Heath control centre.
"We've already had an award of 1.2m to completely modernise, refurbish and update the control centre.
"The 40,000 will go on top of that, and we'll be looking at using it for triageing calls" (deciding priorities among emergency calls).
