Help for domestic abuse victims
A new system has been set up in Lincolnshire to give more support to victims of domestic violence.

The new Domestic Violence Strategy is being launched at an event at the University of Lincoln.

Police, the county council and health services have joined up with voluntary agencies to tackle the problem.

A new website has also been set up with advice for victims and witnesses on reporting incidents and contacts they can turn to for help.

'Holistic approach'

Lincolnshire is adopting a multi agency strategy after victims complained they were not getting the help they needed.

Tanya Bridgeman, the county's domestic violence manager, said it will mean agencies will blend their roles in an "holistic approach".

"A victim would go, for example, to social services, housing or have to call the police, and they would have one issue dealt with by that agency.

"Then that agency would move away and it would be up to the victim to contact the next agency in the sequence.

"It will now be the agency that first comes into contact with the victim that will make sure all the other agencies are brought around the victim in a cocoon-type of method to make sure they are maximum supported."
