Police seek speed camera vandals
suspected offenders were caught on video
The police have released images of the suspected offenders
Police have released photographs of people preparing to attack a speed camera in Lincolnshire.

The images show several men in balaclavas carrying tools and a petrol can on the A15 near Snitterby to the north of Lincoln.

The camera was not damaged in the incident, which happened in the early hours of 9 June.

Police say this is the third time speed cameras on the A15 have been targeted in the past few years.

The men, dressed in combat gear, were caught on video being warned by an alarm at 0218 BST.

The group Motorists Against Detection has claimed resposnibility for the incident.

A police spokesman said the speed camera had been attacked previously and a surveillance camera was fitted to prevent more attacks.

Sgt Gary Addison of Market Rasen police station said several fatal accidents had occured at that location and "the camera was there for a genuine road safety need".

Dave Rosier of the Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership said since safety cameras have been fitted on roads in Lincolnshire vandals have caused approximately 170,000 worth of damage.
