Council adds to gas reservoir row
Welton oil field
Residents are worried about potential leaks
Plans to store high pressure gas under villages in Lincolnshire have run into more opposition.

West Lindsey District Council agreed on Thursday to urge the county council to reject the scheme.

Residents fear that storing gas under their homes in Welton is not safe - despite assurances from Star Energy, the firm behind the project.

More than 300 people attended a meeting on Thursday to discuss the proposals to convert an underground reservoir.

Star Energy has insisted feasibility studies have shown there will be no threat to the public.
