More bypass consultation needed
Highways officials in Lincolnshire say they have not ruled out the possibility of a bypass scheme for Boston.

Environmental studies have shown Boston's increasing traffic congestion is causing higher-than-normal air pollution in areas of the town.

Some residents are hoping a bypass will be included in Lincolnshire's new five-year transport plan.

Steve Willis of Lincolnshire County Council's highways department says no decision has yet been made.

Health 'problem'

He says the decision will come next year after further public consultation.

The two areas of the town affected by high pollution levels are Bargate Bridge and John Adams Way, environment officials at Boston Borough Council say.

The borough council says it will continue to lobby the county council for road improvements.

John Chapman, from Boston's environmental health department, said: "If you do live here, there is a problem in terms of the health of individuals who live by the side of the road."
