A train company which runs a number of services in the East Midlands has defended its punctuality record. New Strategic Rail Authority figures reveal Central Trains still has the worst performance for time-keeping.
But Central Trains managers say it is unfair to compare different train companies as they offer different services.
Spokesman Ged Burgess said the services are actually improving in the region.
Refurbishment programme
He said: "I think what customers are really concerned about is their journey getting better.
"Complaints in Lincolnshire have halved and passenger numbers are on the way up, so it's a rosy picture.
"But it's still a long way to go, admittedly."
The study also revealed Midland Mainline is the least reliable long distance train operator in the UK.
The company's head of sales and marketing Jamie Burles said: "We have got a �90m refurbishment programme of our high-speed trains which is nearing completion.
"That's bearing fruit now, and it's going to get better.
"So in terms of passengers from Nottingham, they do have things to look forward to in terms of a better-trained service."
