The Poacher will be out of action for 16 weeks
The Skegness lifeboat is being taken out of action for nearly four months so it can be re-fitted.

It will take 16 weeks to overhaul the Lincolnshire Poacher at Souters Boat Yard, on the Isle of Wight.

The work will include completely stripping down the 12m (39 foot) boat and removing both engines.

The Mersey-class lifeboat will also be re-galvanised, painted, have new windows installed and new propellers fitted.

While it is being re-fitted, the Poacher will be replaced by an identical relief boat called the Fisherman's Friend.

The poacher is worth about 1m and has a top speed of 17 knots (31km/h).
