Supermarkets give job boost
Around 450 jobs are expected be created in Lincolnshire with a string of supermarket developments.

The latest involves Tesco bulldozing its current store in Horncastle and replacing it with a new one.

Tesco wants to build a new store despite the old one only having been open for six months.

Three more outlets, another Tesco in Skegness and a Tesco and Asda in Boston, are all planned to open or expand soon.

Site switch

Such has been the success of the Horncastle Tesco, the company has decided to apply to East Lindsey District Council to extend it.

The new branch is being promoted as offering more car parking, an in-store cafe and adding 50 jobs to the 100 who already work there.

A decision is expected in December or January.

In Skegness, work will start in the new year on a new Tesco store creating 250 jobs when it opens in the autumn.

And in Boston, an extension to the current Tesco store will add up to 40 jobs.

Rival Asda is hoping to start work soon on a 15m pound switch from one side of the town to the other, creating 100 jobs on top of those who already work at their current store.
