Football duo to face trial
Sincil Bank
The game was played at Sincil Bank
The chairman and a player from Carlisle United Football Club have been ordered to stand trial over public order offences.

Club chairman John Courtenay and striker Richie Foran will face a magistrates' court trial in December, it was decided on Tuesday.

Mr Foran, 22, and Mr Courtenay, 53, were charged over alleged incidents during Carlisle's game at Lincoln City last season.

They have each pleaded not guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke violence.

The pair are alleged to have committed the offences during the game at Lincoln's Sincil Bank Stadium on 17 August last year following a decision to award Lincoln a penalty late in the game.

The penalty was missed and Carlisle won the game 1-0.

Mr Foran and Mr Courtenay will face trial at Gainsborough magistrates' court on 15 December, it was decided.
