Jurors in the trial of a man accused of murdering a Lincolnshire schoolgirl have visited the scene where her semi-naked body was found.

The seven men and five women were escorted by court staff to Lincoln's Boultham Park and shown the location where 13-year-old Sandy Hadfield was discovered in July 2002.

The trial barristers and Mr Justice Royce, the trial judge, were also present at the scene.

Timothy Cuffy, 35, formerly of Usher Green, Lincoln, has denied murdering the teenager on 21 July 2002.

999 call

The prosecution say he plied the teenager with drink after she called at his home to visit a school friend, whose mother lived with Mr Cuffy.

The prosecution says Mr Cuffy, who was alone in the house, then took the girl to the park and murdered her.

Prosecuting barrister Timothy Spencer told the jury that Mr Cuffy cut her throat twice with a knife and then stripped the clothes from her body.

The court has heard that Mr Cuffy later made a 999 call claiming to have found her body by chance.

The trial continues.
