Survey shows housing trends
Louth
Many people retire to Lincolnshire
A new study has revealed that 60% of properties being bought in East Lindsey are by people from outside the area.

In some areas that figure rose to 75%, according to research done by a team from Birmingham University.

The report was commissioned by the district council and officials say, while they have always known a high number of people move into the area to retire, they were still shocked by the level uncovered by the study.

The head of housing for East Lindsey District Council, Pat Fowler, said there were some significant findings:

Affordable homes

"It was a surprise. When people doing the research approached the Estate Agents they were astonished by what they were told.

"One Louth estate agent said only 25% of sales were to people from the local area.

"At Horncastle one agent said two-thirds of their mailing list was to people outside Lincolnshire."

The council says these trends have a big impact on the provision of services and the affordability of homes for local families.
