A Leicester firm wants to build a swimming pool on the site of a former hosiery firm in the city centre. Bowbridge Group has submitted plans for the 25m pool along with a bowling alley and flats in a 200m project. The development, if approved, would be built on the site of the former Corah building, which employed hundreds of workers in the 1980s. Leicester has not had a city centre swimming pool since St Margaret's Baths closed in 2000. Carol Lister of the Leicester City Swimming Club said: "I think it is an excellent idea - although I am not sure how many people will be able to use it if it is a private facility but it will be a good facility to have in Leicester. It is a long time coming." A city council spokesman said the outline planning application was still in its early stages.
